A post-lunch Rooster...

Yesterday, after lunch, Rooster grabbed her bucket (a dishpan we keep in her room at all times due to the fickleness of her belly and my desire to make it easy to clean up if she pukes) and headed to the bathroom. She was sobbing that her lower belly felt "really yucky."

After about ten minutes of absolutely nothing happening, she said she felt fine, and that was that. She ate fine the rest of the day. She played with her siblings as if nothing had happened. We kept her on a normal diet, figuring that if she was getting the stomach virus that had hit our household, we'd prefer to know before she went to bed for the night. (Cleaning up pukey sheets at two o'clock in the morning is not one of my preferred activities.) For all intents and purposes, she was fine.

Fast-forward to today. Rooster woke up fine, acted fine all morning, then had the same lunch she did yesterday (Sun-butter on her usual bread and an apple on the side). Shortly after lunch, she grabbed her bucket again and high-tailed it to the bathroom. She once again had about ten minutes of saying her belly felt "yucky" without anything happening. She's been fine ever since.

Pig and I are totally baffled.

Was the sandwich contaminated with anything to which she is allergic? Did she eat lunch too soon after her morning snack? Was it the new vitamin D drops we just started her on a few days ago? (Recent bloodwork showed she was vitamin D deficient. As per her gastroenterologist, we found a supplement for her to try.) Is she actually dealing with an extremely mild version of the stomach virus? If so, then why did it occur at only that same time on both days? Is it because she had eaten a single grape a day for a couple of days before then? Lower tummy issues might be connected to something she ate a day or two prior, and grapes in the past have been noted as potentially bothering her belly.

I truly hate belly issues with kidlets, especially with a kidlet who has such a fickle belly.

So we're going to try and figure out how to make this recurring tummy pain go away. She did not have a grape today or yesterday, so those few grapes should, in theory, be out of her system by now. We shall skip Rooster's vitamin D tomorrow morning and send her to school with the same exact lunch as these past two days. We shall let the school nurse know how Rooster's been reacting. We shall wait and see. I hate waiting to find out if there is a connection, but I really don't know what else to do.

I just want my daughter to feel fine twenty-four hours a day. Is this too much to ask?
